What can you paint on High Quality Gesso?
Use your beautiful imagination.
- STEP 1 - Shake your container of High Quality Gesso until it becomes relatively thick and smooth with the consistency of melted chocolate.
- STEP 2 - Wet your paintbrush with water. Then squeeze it dry so that it doesn't soak up excess gesso.
- STEP 3 - Lay your canvas on a flat surface. Cover the surface with a drop cloth for easy clean up afterward.
- STEP 4 - Pour a dollop of High Quality Gesso onto the center of the canvas and begin working it back and forth with parallel strokes of your paintbrush.
- STEP 5 - Apply the High Quality Gesso as evenly and as thinly as possible. Don't neglect to coat the edges of the canvas. Use a smaller paintbrush for that part of the job.
- STEP 6 - Clean your brushes with water and allow the canvas to dry for at least an hour.
- STEP 7 - Once the first coat has dried, gently sand it using fine sandpaper. Sanding aught to even out the surface. Don't forget to dust off any grit remaining.
- STEP 8 - Repeat step 4, 5 & 6. This time apply the strokes perpendicular to the first application of High Quality Gesso. Continue adding coats of gesso until your canvas is as smooth as you need it to be.
- STEP 9 - Allow the canvas to dry overnight.
Now you are ready to paint your next great piece of art on a canvass that can withstand the test of time. Just imagine, people 300 years from now may be able to enjoy your work, thanks to a couple of well-applied coats of High Quality Gesso.
